Mother's Day Tidbit

How many times has your mom told you the story beginning, “When you were born….”
Did you put her through hours of labor? Did you wait until you got to the hospital before entering the world? I myself was born seven weeks premature and on my mother’s birthday. It makes for great storytelling and it’s a celebration that we relive every year and every moment we get.

Chances are, many of you reading this have been the subject of these and even more stories around the dinner table, cocktail party or coffee clutches with friends and family. Either way, you have a mother who tells it from her side. Mother’s Day is the one day we give our mothers free reign to retell their tales and show her that we appreciate all she’s done without protest.

I have the pleasure of providing moms all over the country with something that gives them delight—dessert, of course! Every year I struggle with what to focus upon for a gift for my mom, but it ends up being an adventure rather than a chore.

And do I have ideas for this year!

Does your mother live out of town? Well, mine does. So if this prevents you from seeing her in person, send her a box of assorted fudge brownies. Caramel, walnuts, peanut butter and more send my mom into a state of ecstasy!

Are you bringing your mother her gift in person? Red Velvet or Devil’s Food Cupcakes are the ticket, or maybe even a Flourless Chocolate Cake on a silver platter shows just how much you care? I'm taking a road trip this year and bringing my mom all of these.

Okay, so not everyone will forego sending flowers and giving jewelry, I know that. But if you make desserts yourself or buy them from somewhere else, your mom will be satisfied, because they are given with one thought in mind.
